National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Bamanga Tukur, has tasked the Federal Government and all security agencies in the country to ensure that the masterminds behind the killings of about 25 students of Mubi Polytechnic are fished out and punished in line with the laws of the country.
Tukur condemned the killings of Mubi Polytechnic students during a breakfast meeting with a delegation from Ekiti State PDP led by Kayode Adaramodu, who came to commiserate with him over the massacre in his home state, Adamawa State, also condemned what he described as wanton shedding of innocent blood, saying “enough is enough”.
According to him, “Every Nigerian must condemn what happened. The killing of these students is unwarranted and uncalled for. What joy does the masterminds of these dastardly drives from the deaths and shedding of innocents bloods? We are parents, how would the parents of these students that were killed feel.
“You sent your children to school to study and the next thing is that his or her corpse is brought back to you. How do you expect them to feel?” Tukur asked.
He challenged all the security agencies in the country to ensure that the masterminds of the killings of the students are fished out and the perpetrators arrested and made to face the due cause of the law.
“It was first the killing of members of the National Youths Service Corps (NYSC), now they have graduated into going into the campus to kill the students. This must stop and the federal, state governments and the security agencies must ensure the protection of lives.
However, Tukur is expected to lead a delegation of the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) Friday to commiserate with the state governor, Muritala Nyako, urging Nigerians to address whatever their grievances may through dialogue.
He also restated the party’s policy of reconciliation, reformation and rebuilding, stating that: “With the PDP policy of reconciliation, the party wants to ensure that all aggrieved members of the party are reconciled.
“By reconciling members of PDP, by and large, we have succeeded in reconciling Nigerians, because the party as a ruling party consists of many Nigerians as members. In every ten Nigerians, at least six to seven of them are Nigerians. This is the essence of our party’s reconciliation.”
Earlier, the leader of the delegation, Kayode Adaramodu, had commiserated with Tukur and urged him not be deterred by the challenges of insecurity in the country.
Adaramodu urge the PDP chairman not to waiver in his determination to deploy his vast experience in the private sector in the advancement of good governance in the country.
The leader of the delegation also used opportunity to commend Tukur in repositioning the party towards reconciliation, especially as it regards the PDP in Ekiti State.
