Cadbury MD,CEO Emil Moskofian and Keshi at TomTom reception for Eagles last Saturday
Super Eagles coach, Stephen Keshi has heaped praises on TomTom, the Official Candy of the Nigerian national football teams, for its unflinching support and commitment to the development of football in Nigeria.
At the reception organised by TomTom in honour of the African champions in Lagos last Saturday, Keshi said that with brands like TomTom who care for football in Nigeria, the national teams and their performances, the country’s football would continue to develop and the teams would not relent in putting smiles on the faces of Nigerians and make them proud.
During the trophy visit, the rewards promised by the brand were presented to the team. These include the Most Valuable Player award won by Victor Moses, valued at $10,000 (about N1.6 million) and the Shot-on-Target, which totalled $12,500 (about N2 million) for the 25 shots-on-target recorded throughout the championship. The team also got N10 million reward for lifting the AFCON trophy.
Keshi maintained that with the right support, there is no way the country’s football would not develop, assuring that his own team has resolved to keep making Nigerians happy.
“It is appropriate to thank TomTom for all it has been doing for Nigerian football. Its effort has been a great motivation for us. If we have brands like TomTom behind us, our football will keep moving forward and we will continue to make Nigerians proud,” he said.
Keshi showered encomiums on TomTom for having great vision for the country’s football through its initiatives and also for having faith in his team particularly when most people believed it could not deliver.
“Wherever we go, TomTom will be there because we know now that it cares for our football, the Super Eagles and their performance. By the grace of God, my team will go places,” Keshi assured.
The General Secretary of the Nigeria Football Federation, Musa Ahmadu also applauded TomTom for the support it has been giving the national teams.
“They have stuck with the national teams, particularly the Super Eagles through thick and thin, even when a lot of people didn’t believe they would deliver. They have also stuck with the NFF and they have soothed our nerves and make us to breathe better. We appreciate the sponsorship relationship between Cadbury’s TomTom and NFF and I believe it will go higher from here,” Ahmadu said.
Managing Director of Cadbury West Africa, Emil Moskofian, while presenting the team with the prizes, commended the team for making over 170 million Nigerians proud with their achievement. He assured the team of TomTom’s continuous support. He announced that with the Africa Cup of Nations in the kitty, the next target is the FIFA World Cup and the brand would be there for the team.
The reception also dovetailed into TomTom Editors Roundtable, the popular no-holds-barred session between Super Eagles coach and senior sports editors where Keshi exchanged ideas on how to build on his team’s achievement.
