Three people have been arrested in Kano by the police for sending threat text messages to wealthy individuals and politicians demanding huge amount of money.
State Police Commissioner Ibrahim Idris said the suspects were in the habit of threatening their victims to release money to them or they will be killed.
The three suspects said to be from Maiduguri, Borno state but residing at Naibawa quarters in Kano, confessed to be members of the terrorists group whose modus operandi was to make a GSM call to their victims, presenting themselves as members of terrorists group.
Addressing reporters in Kano on Thursday, the Police Commissioner disclosed named the suspects as Mohammed Hassan, Abati Hassan and Babandi Mohammed. He said the suspects are cooperating with the Police in their investigations.
