A five-man armed robbery gang on Wednesday, robbed the Arts Director of THISDAY Newspapers, Mr. Ochi Ogbuaku Jnr, at Omole Phase II in Lagos.
The gang made away with his black Honda CRV Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV), as well as other valuables.

Although the director was unhurt, the gang however kidnapped his driver and drove off the SUV with registration number BK42YAB,  Chasis no : JHLREA8559C402644, Engine no :K24Z13745812 with tinted rear side windows.
Narrating the incident, Ogbuaku said, “I arrived at my gate at about 10.45pm and while we waited for the gateman to open the gate, my driver got down to check the fuel that we bought on our way home.

“Few minutes after we drove into the compound, we were greeted by a coarse voice ordering me to bring the money I had on me. Lo and behold; two armed men emerged from the darkness and ordered me to lie down.

“They took the N100,000 I had on me and ordered the driver back into the car before they made away with my car alongside some valuables like my I-Pad and my apple laptop.”

He added, “I went to make a report at the Isheri Police Division and the Divisional Police Officer, Adebayo Ajewole, a Chief Superintendent of Police, was quite helpful.
“He sent out different patrol teams to trail the car but unfortunately, the robbers had escaped the vicinity. It was later we learnt from my driver whom they released at Mowe, that they left Lagos for Ogun State.”

Ogbuaku, however, said the robbers might have been ambushed if the communications network provider was efficient when he tried to contact the emergency numbers he had on his phone.

He said, “If the networks were workable, the car might have been recovered but by the time I could get through, precious minutes had passed.
“The network providers really need to work and get their call connectivity back on ground. It was so frustrating for me. Anything could have happened and I wouldn’t be able to reach out.”
