"The Hunger Games" soundtrack debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart this week, after selling 175,000 units, reports Billboard.
The record-breaking film also made box office history after scoring $152 million for its 3-day weekend box office total, making it the third highest opening weekend ever, behind "Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows Part 2" and "The Dark Knight."
Adding to the film's good fortune, "The Hunger Games" soundtrack is the first soundtrack to debut at No. 1 since Michael Jackson's soundtrack for 2009's "This Is It" shot to the top of the charts after its release.
In December, country starlet Taylor Swift released the first official song off the soundtrack, "Safe & Sound," a folksy lullaby for "Hunger Games" heroine Katniss Everdeen. She later released her second single off the soundtrack, "Eyes Open," in March.
The soundtrack features music from Miranda Lambert, Kid Cudi, The Decemberists, the Civil Wars and Arcade Fire, among others.
