Jos South local government area of Plateau State again went wild Friday morning following the killing of 10 persons, who were hacked to death the previous night at Kogwom Village in Vom district of the local government by unknown gunmen suspected to be Fulani herdsmen.
The gunmen allegedly stormed the village at the early hours of Friday and shot sporadically and at random at the people thereby killing the 10 persons and injuring two others, who are currently receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital.
The Special Task Force (STF) on Jos crisis, who confirmed the killings in a statement signed by Lt Kingsley Egbo, said the soldiers rushed to the scene as soon as they got an alarm, but that the people of the area resisted them from entering into the village, thereby making it difficult for the soldiers to close in on the attackers. They added that the 10 people killed were members of same family.
