Super Eagles left back, Taye Taiwo has had his prayers of playing in the English Premiership answered as he completed a loan deal to Queens Park Rangers Tuesday.
The 26-year-old AC Milan defender who has been unsettled in the Italian capital city since joining them last summer from Olympic Marseilles is to remain with the English team till the end of the season.
Since joining the Rossoneri, Taiwo has been unable to command a regular shirt in the Italian champion’s starting line up, a situation which has reduced the power-playing defender to a benchwarmer.
"It's a new and exciting challenge for me and one I am very much looking forward to," Taiwo told QPR’s official website Tuesday.
"I'm very grateful to Mark Hughes for bringing me here. It is always nice for a player when you know the Manager wants you and I will repay his faith in me.
"I can't wait to play for the club."
"I have known of him for a long time and admired him from afar," added Hughes.
"To get him now is a fantastic coup and a real statement of intent that we can attract the quality of player that he is. I am looking forward to working with him."
QPR captain Joey Barton was on Twitter last week in praise of the move, posting: "Taye Taiwo from AC Milan signing for the Rs.
"Was very good when I [have] seen him for Marseille, good news. First of many, fingers crossed."
Taiwo a former FIFA Under-20 runner up winner at the 2005 edition in Holland also won an Olympic silver medal with Samson Siasia’Under-23 squad at the last Games in Beijing, China four years ago. He was also a member of the Super Eagles to the last World Cup in South Africa.
