Kano State Police Command yesterday arrested 10 suspects in connection with the recent killing of two policemen and two officers of Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) in different areas of the state.
The state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Ibrahim Idris, said yesterday in a press statement made available to journalists that eight of the arrested suspects were being quizzed over the killing of the policemen in Kofar Dawanu area. He added that the other two were masterminds of the attack which claimed the lives two FRSC officials in Madobi area of the state.
The statement also said one of the suspects sustained gunshot injuries during the process of arrest and later died in the hospital. He added that the second suspect, one Ibrahim Inusa, of Sudanese parentage with no fixed address is also in Police custody.
The suspect, Inusa, together with others still at large, was said to have specialised in the killing of innocent citizens in the state. He was also said to have confessed during investigation that he organised and participated in various killings of civilians and security personnel at Gaida, Sheka, Gwale and other parts of Kano metropolis including the recent killing of some FRSC staff along Sabon Titi Madobi Road Kano.
The suspect was also said to have slain the FRSC officials after impounding their motorcycles. The suspect confessed that his gang deceived their victims with a telephone call that there was an accident along Madobi Road, which needed their intervention, disclosing that it was when they were on their way to Madobi that they were ambushed, attacked and killed.
