Four persons were on Sunday night, feared killed following an attack on two villages in Langtang South Local Government Area of Plateau State by gunmen suspected to be Fulani mercenaries.

Karkashi and Barrack villages were reportedly attacked simultaneously and reduced to ashes, when the attackers, who had gained entry through Yemani in Shendam Local Government Area, caught the people unaware. The attackers, after carrying out their dastardly act, reportedly fled into Taraba State.

Confirming the incident, the Chairman of Taroh community in Wase Local Government Area, Mr. Jungle Luhdut, said: “Four people were killed, while the two villages have been completely burnt down with no single house standing.”

When contacted, the spokesman for Special Task Force (STF) on Jos crisis, Captain Salisu Mustapha, said he would only be able to comment on the attack, after getting in touch with the sector commander in Langtang South.

Meanwhile, the STF has named Major General David Eneite, as its new commander, taking over from Major General Henry Ayoola, who has been transferred to the Army Headquarters in Abuja, as the Director Research and Documentation.

Speaking at the handing over yesterday, at the STF headquarters in Jos, Ayoola thanked the people of the state for their support and called on them to learn to tolerate one another to consolidate on the current peace in the state.

On his part, Eneite urged the indigenes of the state to work with him to restore a much lasting peace.
