Soft Solutions Limited (SSL) will tee-off its 1st Annual Golf Tournament on Tuesday, May 8th, 2011 at the prestigious Ikeja Golf Club.

Over 200 players have been scheduled to tee-off at the inaugural tournament with ladies, gentlemen, veteran and professional players all having a feel at the weeklong event.

Fatumata Soukouna, the Chief Executive of the sponsoring company informed that the event is intended to serve as a platform to bring together Information and Communication Technology professionals and top executives for socialisation and cross fertilisation of ideas.

She also added that: “We would be using the medium to showcase many of our products to the public, what we have done and solutions that a lot of existing companies and entrepreneur can leverage on to build a sound system.”

Invited professional golfers are billed to start off the event from Tuesday May 8th at the nine-hole club while invited ladies from, Dolphin Golf Club, Ikoyi Club 1938 and Shagamu Golf Club would mount the tee-boxes for their round on Wednesday 9th of May.

These will pave way for a weekend of SSL golf that would feature gentlemen golfers having their 18 holes round with invited ladies from Tiger, Benin and Ibadan Golf Clubs and other parts of the country.

The event would be rounded off on Saturday May 12 with a presentation dinner that would at the club where winner of the weeklong activity would be presented with their prizes.

Meanwhile, a new golf initiative that would see players win grants for their alma mater will debut at the Ikeja Golf Club in Lagos.

The event, The Alumni Golf is set up to raise endowment through golf tournament to winning school. Chief Executive of The Alumni Golf and Resort, Kunle Ogunleye says the tournament would feature a team of four players representing, a secondary school.

“This is entirely a developmental effort, this edition is an inaugural and we have a lot of interest already generated,” he said while addressing the media in Lagos on Wednesday.

Thirty five teams are expected to tee-off at the inaugural event scheduled from Friday May 18 to 20 at the lush greens of Ikeja Golf Club.

The event has attracted interest from different corporate entities including, Heineken, MTN Nigeria, Seven-Up bottling Company, Fist Bank, PZ Cussons, Virgin Atlantic and Total Nigeria to name a few.
