Spotlighting Eko 2012 For Global Audience

Not many are aware that the ongoing Eko 2012 National Sports Festival in Lagos is live on webcast to a global audience by the partnership between Crown Interactive Media and the Lagos State Government. The show being viewed live across all the continents has been streamed online from its opening till date. So, anyone with a smart phone or android phones can easily see what’s going on without being physically present at the venue.  The show goes on at Vodstreet.com live while the platform also secures recorded version.


According to the Wumi Oghoetuoma, the Chief Executive, Crown Interactive; “it’s a partnership with the Lagos State Government which doesn’t involve any money exchange. We’re here to make Nigerian know that if it’s possible in other worlds, we can do it too”


Crown Interactive practically created this new framework for online TV which is currently being introduced to internet service providers, mobile network operators and content providers for contents to be streamed live from its platform to the rest of the world.


One of its packages is titled Enterprise TV and this is a corporate communications tool for innovative organisations wishing to communicate with their stakeholders via their own branded TV channel.


The channel can be embedded on the company’s intranet or a dedicated mobile application, so that its stakeholder can access on demand content or possible live streams of a corporate address anywhere they are in the world.


The company may choose to offer its stakeholder access to entertainment on the Vodstreet platform, which is the consumer, media proposition mainly promoting entertainment and access to various services.


Other uses could be HR delivering live e-training to its staff or even providing content on-demand to field staff via their mobile devices. It could also be the Chairman or CEO’s office addressing its entire workforce or senior management via a video feed embedded on its existing web portal. The content shall be only visible to authorized users with approved credential


There’s yet another one called the VODstreet, (Video on Demand) because it’s a media destination for movies, TV shows, live events, e-learning made available on your phones. The surge of over 100million active subscribers on Nigerian mobile market and the digitization of the broadcast media by 2015 are factors informing a shift in the market that will either require that people buy new TV sets or they’ll change their viewing patterns to the web and TV on mobile devices. And this is because standard broadcast is losing its viewership to the web in developed nations of the world.


The essence is also to get the network operators and the content providers monetize their products. In other words, even the movie producers who take their films to the cinemas before it goes to the DVD to maximally monetize their contents, with this framework, producers can stream their contents globally online.
