Sports Minister Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi

During the week, Sports Minister Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, put paid to the Nigeria Football Federation’s quest to employ Belgian, Tom Saintfiet as Technical Director on the ground that there are qualified Nigerians who can fill the post.

While a number of people are bound to be unhappy with this development, the simple truth is that if the NFF had the money to foot the bill then they could have gone ahead to seal the deal.

But when you’re asking another person to fork out $20, 000 to pay the 38-year-old, then you are at the mercy of the person picking up the bill.

However, beyond this, was it not in this same country that the Youth Sports Federation (YSFON) produced the bulk of the Golden Eaglets that did the nation proud at China’85?

This means that we do have the talent to fill this important post and it is now left for the NFF to find the right person to occupy the important seat.

So in the age of ‘transformation agenda’ perhaps this is the time for Glass House to come up with the right person to transform our youth football.
