Speaking while inspecting the project in Sokoto Friday, Wamakko stated that government was determined to complete the second phase of the water scheme at the confluence of Sokoto and Rima Rivers in Wamakko local government council.

He explained that the project when completed would provide additional 20 million gallons of water daily to the Sokoto metropolis and its environs.

"The Asari Water Scheme was part of our efforts to ensure sufficient water supply to Sokoto metropolis and its environs with a view to bringing an end to water scarcity.

"Thus, we had invested funds in the rehabilitation and overhauling of the existing machineries to improve the production capacity that will meet the current demand," Wamakko said.

He emphasized that contractors had already gone far in the execution of the water project.

Wamakko pointed out that in addition to this, five village water schemes would be upgraded to semi water scheme at Lambar Tureta, MammanSuka, Yarbulutu, Alkammu and Kasarawa.
