Muhammad Nadada Umar, SMEDAN DG
For providing leadership in the development of small businesses in Nigeria, the Director-General of the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria, (SMEDAN), Alhaji Muhammad Nadada Umar, has received the ‘Quality Leadership Award’ from Organisation for the Enhancement of Transparent Leadership (OETL), a Non-Governmental Organisation.
The award was presented to Umar by the National President of the Organisation, Mr. Christian Nwachukwu Jr. at the Agency’s headquarters on December 13, in Lagos.
According to Nwachukwu, the OETL is a forum of progressive youths across the country, constituted to propagate good leadership, embark on leadership trainings and develop leadership potentials, promote government performances, promote attitudinal change among Nigeria Youths, fight corruption through media.
He further noted that the award was instituted and meant to honour, appreciate and encourage Nigerian leaders who distinguished themselves through purposeful leadership and proffered solutions to socio-economic, political, cultural and religious challenges of our time. It is an annual routine for the organisation to honour those who have made indelible marks on the sands of time. Prior to the presentation of the award, the organisation made an in-depth study of profiles of all awardees before deciding to honour them.
Speaking after receiving the award, Umar expressed his gratitude, noting that this was one of those he would value most. He further stated that it would serve as a catalyst for him to do more to the best of his ability. “I will dedicate the award to my supportive management team and staff, who had been with me piloting the affairs of this agency”, he added.
Umar also commended the organisation for recognizing his dedication and service to his fatherland and promised to assist in covering areas yet uncovered in the fight to eradicate unemployment and reduce poverty.
