* Niger emerge best improved polio eradicating state

Niger State has emerged  the most improved state in the campaign for the eradication of polio in Nigeria, while six other states also emerged  winners of the 2012 Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) immunization leadership challenge instituted by the NGF and sponsored by Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.

The six states that emerged winners of the immunization leadership challenge are Ondo, Cross River, Kogi, Anambra, Borno and Zamfara States. Each of these states won prize money of $500,000.

This was disclosed by Dr. Shehu Sule, a member of the panel of judges who told reporters after briefing the governors at its meeting which ended in the early hours of Thursday in Abuja.
