Wilfred Shagba and Mohammed Suleiman clinched the major category prizes at the sixth edition of the JK Gadzama LLP Tourney staged at the IBB International Golf and Country Club, Abuja.
Shagba fired 69 net to emerge the overall winner in the 0-18 handicap category in the 18-hole tournament that was attended by over 200 golfers.
S. Shongwe signed for the score of 71 to win the men division one net, while Uche Okponu was four shots off the pace.
U. Slay won the Men’s Division 2 title just as M. Ehiemobi beat Fei Shen on countback (73) to finish second.
The gross prize was a straight fight between Suleiman and Dipo Sanya, but it was the former, a runner up net winner last year, that carried the day on the countback rule after each of them separately shot 80.
The idea of an annual golf tournament was mooted seven years ago by Joe Gadzama (SAN) when he was the captain of the IBB International Golf and Country Club.
The President of the Federal High Court, Justice Ibrahim Auta, performed the ceremonial tee off.
Many of the guests, including the President of Nigeria Bar and Bench, Abuja Chapter, Justice Mustapha Oniyangi eulogized Gadzama for his dedication to legal practice in Nigeria and support of his chambers fpr sports.
The Chief Judge Federal Capital Territory Justice Lawal Gumi, called for more golf courses to thrive in Abuja to cater for the growing number of those willing to play the game.
