In recognition of its excellent business practice, SecureID Limited has been named the Most Outstanding Mature Business in the 3rd African Leadership Network Awards for Entrepreneurship.

Hailed as the "African Businesses Oscars” by reputable media organisations, the African Leadership Network Awards, presented by a slew of accomplished business men and women across Africa, is the leading African business award honouring excellence in entrepreneurship across all sectors and comes with a hefty cash prize of $100,000.

The ALN, in a statement, said its panel, which nominates and winners, comprised leading minds from reputable organisations around the world.

SecureID, it stated, was recognised for its pre-eminence as a thoroughbred start-up of African origin, competing successfully in a global market.

“The road travelled to get winners was not an easy one; from an original list of over 300 companies, subsequently whittled down to 15 companies. The due diligence process commenced at this stage and SecureID Limited was put under the microscope by an external independent consultant employed by the ALN.

Claims of innovations were studied, financial records were audited, Strategic decisions questioned; the managing director and selected staff grilled. This process reduced the number of nominations to 12, all of whom were invited to Accra. Things didn't end there as more interactions and interviews were held with a panel of judges on the 8th and 9th of October. This was the final step in the process before SecureID Limited was acknowledged to be the Most Outstanding in the Mature Business category, “it stated.

According to the judges, “SecureID has been recognised as setting the standard for innovation and creativity in the SmartCard Sector in sub-Saharan Africa. The award is a testament to the skill, ingenuity and vision of its leaders and staff."

The Managing Director of SecureID Limited, Mrs Kofo Akinkugbe, noted that the recognition was well-deserved given that it had remained the best in the SmartCard identity industry in Nigeria.

“SecureID provides turn-key solutions for the smartcard identity industry from project start, through design, manufacture and personalization to final card packaging/fulfillment. SecureID supports a wide range of card products such as EMV SmartCards, GSM SIM cards, Magnetic-stripe debit cards, Loyalty cards, Contactless dual interface chip cards, Multipurpose secure identity cards and Mifare cards,” she said.

According to her, SecureID has the capacity and the quality of operational and administrative personnel to justify its position as the ideal partner in the provision of chip and PIN based smartcards that support payments and biometric identification, verification and authentication purposes.

“SecureID is accredited by Visa International, MasterCard Global and Verve for logical data security, physical plant security and integrity processing standards, making us the preferred organisation for card personalisaton and personalisation solutions,” Akinkugbe said.
