The Supreme Court yesterday upheld the appeal by Jude Ugwu, the suspected assailant of the former minister of Information and Communication, Professor Dora Akunyili,

A seven man panel of the court presided over by justice Datijo Mohammed held that there was no enough evidence linking Ugwu with the crime. Jude Ugwu alias "Agada" and four others were charged before an Abuja high court for attempted murder of Aknyili in Anambra state in 2003 when she was the Director of the National Agency for food and drugs administration and control (NAFDAC).

According to the charge, a bullet tore through her headgear when the accused persons fired at her car.
