 The Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Alhaji Inde Dikko Abdulahi, has been hit by scammers who are making frantic efforts to defraud people using the name of the customs boss.

In an e-mail message sent to this reporter, the hackers had used his email account to request an urgent financial assistance to be sent to the customs boss.

The fraudster had requested for N240, 000 as coming from Abdullah to enable him pay the money to somebody in Nigeria since he was away on a trip to Saudi Arabia.

Coincidentally, it was gathered that the Customs boss traveled to Saudi Arabia for this year’s pilgrimage.

Part of the letter read: “Hello, I apologise for this sudden request out of the blue, I made a quick trip to Saudi Arabia; I just discovered my token device for online transaction is not here with me and I need to make an urgent payment of N240, 000 to someone in Nigeria. “Let me know if you can help me remit this sum. I will refund before Friday next week. Kind Regards. Dikko Abdullahi Inde”.

It was gathered that a similar message was also sent to some operators in the industry including the President of National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders (NAGAFF), Mr. Eugene Nweke.

An industry operator, however, said as far as he was concerned, the scammers were unintelligent to have sent such messages to people who know that the Customs boss would definitely not make such request from.
