After suspending his international engagements with Togo national team weeks ago in the wake of a match bonus row with the football federation, Emmanuel Adebayor seemed to have accepted to join the Sparrow Hawks for the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations.

The FA president Gabriel Ameyi announced on Monday that the team will be leaving for South Africa alongside its captain Adebayor, who was received by the country’s President Faure Gnassingbe on Monday.

“It is now very clear that we will be going to the Africa Cup of Nations with our captain Emmanuel Adebayor. We’ll be together there in South Africa,” Ameyi said in Lome.

“It’s very important to have him in the group because he’s our best player and captain. All our stars will be available for the tournament including Adebayor,” he added.

The 29-year-old Tottenham forward arrived in the country last weekend for a tete-a-tete with the President, which local observers believe was to persuade him to return to the outfit, reports supersport.com.

However, Adebayor did not make any comments while leaving the presidential quarters.

Togo will play their first game against Cote d’Ivoire on January 22 in Rustenburg, where Group D, which includes Algeria and Tunisia, will also be playing.
