The South South Youths Leaders Forum has flayed the call by some members of the House of Representatives for the removal of the Petroleum Minister, Mrs. Diezeani Allison-Madueke, alleging that such calls stemmed from ethnic sentiments which should be disregarded.

The Forum, which wondered the premise under which such calls were being made “when those that should know in the petroleum sector of the economy like former Petroleum Minister, Dr. Rilwalnu Lukman has described her contributions to the sector as an asset.”

A statement by the National Chairman of the Forum, Odiedim Amachree, noted that the call coming from members of the House of Representatives “who have lost respect of the people from their conduct and reports of conducts unbecoming of some people in their midst disqualifies them from making such calls.”

“We are particularly disappointed in Mr. Zakari Mohamed, who is recently fanning the embers of tribal sentiments by championing the call for the removal of Allison-Madueke, a woman who has given so much to Nigeria and has been described as an asset to Nigeria, by one of the world's most experienced oil chiefs, Mr. Rilwanu Lukman.

“We strongly believe, that this should be a period of quiet reflection for members of the House of Representatives given all the problems they have caused Nigerians in the past and especially in recent times as the House is now void of all forms of integrity”, he said.
