A South African woman has been arrested by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for smuggling illicit drug into the country.
Duru Gcinukwazi Lindiwe, 39-years old, of Zulu tribe, was last weekend caught with 5.5 kilogrammes of substance found to be methamphetamine hidden in tins of sardines as well as in her luggage, the agency disclosed in a statement signed my its spokesman, Mitchell Ofoyeju.
NDLEA officials at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos detected the drugs during a routine search at the departure hall.Identified as a street cleaner in Johannesburg, the suspect was apprehended during the outward screening of passengers on a South African airline flight to Johannesburg, South Africa. The drug which was estimated by the agency as having a street value of N15 million in Lagos was hidden in tins of sardines as well as in her luggage.
