Rwandan High Commissioner to Nigeria, Mr. Joseph Habineza, has called on countries in Africa to strengthen the socio-cultural and economic ties amongst countries in the continent by travelling to Africa destinations.

Speaking at the launch of RwandAir “Fly and Drive Promotion” organized for air travellers and travel agents recently in Lagos, he said Rwanda has a lot of business cooperation with Nigeria and has enjoyed a cordial relationship with the country.

RwandAir, one of the fastest growing airlines in Africa, launched its operations in the Nigerian market in December 2011.

“Today, we are launching an exciting promotion that will see our clients who purchase tickets on RwandAir win fabulous prizes in a grand draw that will be held in the 1st week of December 2012 to coincide with the 1st anniversary of the airline in the Nigerian market” said Director Sales & Distribution, Alice Katiti.

For every ticket purchased from Lagos to Johannesburg, the client will qualify to enter into the grand draw where he or she stands a chance to win one of the prizes on offer.

The 1st prize is a brand new Rio Saloon Car, 2nd prize is a family holiday for 4 in business class and 3 nights’ hotel accommodation in Johannesburg, and the 3rd prize is Economy class ticket for 2 with 2 nights’ accommodation in Johannesburg.

In addition to the grand prizes, the clients will be entitled to enter the weekly draws where they will win prizes of tickets to RwandAir’s entire network that include Kigali, Entebbe, Nairobi, Mombasa, Dubai, Dar Es Salaam, Kilimanjaro, Mwanza, Kamembe and Gisenyi on Lake Kivu. 3 clients will certainly hit a double jackpot in December at the grand draw!

During the promotional period, the airline is offering a bouquet of incentives including amazing fares and baggage allowance to travellers from Nigeria to Johannesburg and other selected destinations on the RwandAir network via Kigali.

With only $199 economy class and $799 business class return fares on the Lagos-Johannesburg route excluding taxes, travellers from Nigeria can fly conveniently aboard RwandAir’s new Next Generation Boeing 737-800 aircraft with Sky Interior, the first on the African continent! Baggage allowance has been increased to 60 kgs or 2 piece concept each weighing 30 kg in economy class and 90 kgs or 3 pieces each weighing 30 kgs in business class.

The clients can also purchase the special business class fare of $799 excluding tax on selected routes: Lagos to Entebbe, Nairobi and Dubai.

According to the RwandAir Country Manager Nigeria, Hafeez Balogun, the incentives lined up are intended to further appreciate the support and loyalty of the Nigerian travellers since the inaugural launch of the airline less than a year ago.

“We are rewarding the allegiance of the Nigerian travellers towards RwandAir despite stiff competition and soon the airline will move from being a thrice weekly to a daily flight” stated Balogun.

The director of sales & distribution went on to thank the patrons and partners “We are grateful for the overwhelming support we have received from the Travel Trade, Corporate organisations, the service providers, partners, the Rwandan High Commission in Abuja and indeed the travelling public.”

RwandAir is the preferred airline for the Nigeria Football Federation for the Super Eagles and Flying Eagles games in Eastern Africa.
