Mitt Romney raised nearly $112 million for his presidential campaign and the Republican National Committee in the first half of October—putting him on pace for a potentially record-breaking fundraising month for his campaign.

Romney spokeswoman Andrea Saul announced the number in a message on Twitter. The total included cash raised between October 1 - 17, according to the campaign, reports The Ticket.

No further details were offered, such as the breakdown of how much money went to the Romney campaign versus the Romney Victory Fund, a joint committee formed between his campaign and the RNC.

According to the campaign, the Romney effort headed into the final weeks of the campaign with more than $169 million cash in the bank.

Last month, Romney raised $170 million for his campaign and the Romney Victory Fund in September—a new monthly record. But President Barack Obama outpaced Romney, raising $181 million for his campaign in September.

Romney's $112 million intake comes after his campaign claimed new momentum in the aftermath of the presidential debates. The Obama campaign has not yet announced its mid-month October fundraising total.

According to the Romney campaign, more than $38 million of the nearly $112 million raised came in donations of $250 or less.
