Road Accidents Claim 18 Lives in Ogun

Two separate accidents, at the weekend claimed the lives of 18 persons in Ogun State while seven other were left with varying degrees of injury.

In Odeda, two vehicles, one DAF Trailer marked FST 86 XB and a white Nissan bus XB 386 were said to have had an head-on collision living no fewer than six people dead on the sport while four others had various degrees of injury.
The two accidents occurred in Odeda in Odeda local government area of Ogun State and Odogbolu along the Sagamu-Benin expressway claimed six and twelve lives respectively.

According to the Ogun State Sector Commander of Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Ayobami Omiyale, the accident was caused by a reckless overtaking by one of the articulated vehicles. 

The FRSC who confirmed three dead, informed journalists that eight people including four males and four females were involved in the accident. It added that the dead included a male and two females.

The Sector Commander narrated that the deceased has been deposited at the morgue of the state hospital, Ijaye, Abeokuta while the injured were also said to be receiving medical attention at the same hospital.

Earlier, 12 persons were burnt beyond recognition during a ghastly motor accident which occurred between Odogbolu and Ososa, along the Sagamu-Benin expressway.

It was gathered that the auto crash involved a white Toyota Hiace marked Ajetunmobi Express with registration number XA 659 DBC and a white truck carrying a container marked LG 35 BBG.

According to the Public Relations Officer of the Traffic and Road Compliance Agency (TRACE) in Ogun State, Mr Babatunde Akinbiyi, the accident was cause by over speeding.
He further said that three additional person escaped the auto crash through the bush.

The TRACE spokesperson revealed that the corpses of the victims have been deposited at the mortuary at the General Hospital, Ijebu Ode.
