The real South Korean pop star Psy (R) and the imposter
A man pretending to be South Korean pop star Psy has blagged his way into some of the biggest parties at the Cannes Film Festival, it has emerged.
The imposter bears a resemblance to the Gangnam Style and Gentleman singer, and had been spotted at VIP events at the famous festival.
He partied with stars, picked up freebies, danced on a French TV show and even signed a deal to take part in a Monaco gala, reports Sky News.
"He was playing it up full scale," a source told the New York Post. "He had three security guards with him at all times, in suits and earpieces."
But Psy wrote on Twitter that he was not in France and was currently working in Singapore.
"Seems like there's another ME at cannes," the real Psy tweeted. "Say Hi to him."
He had been informed about having a lookalike by Justin Bieber’s manager, Scooter Braun.
Skyfall actress Naomie Harris shared a photo of herself with the fake Psy, but later realised the truth.
"It looks as if we've been fooled, that wasn't the real (PSY])!" she tweeted.
"Could anyone else tell from the picture? Or am I just going crazy!? Haha!"
Meanwhile, thieves appear to have struck again during an event at the Cannes Film Festival, this time making off with a £1.7m necklace during a celebrity party.
The piece by Swiss jeweller De Grisogono went missing just a week after £660,000 worth of Chopard jewels were stolen when a safe was ripped from a hotel wall in the French resort.
The latest theft took place at a festival party in the neighbouring town of Cap d'Antibes - at the exclusive chateau, Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc
Actress Sharon Stone and Paris Hilton were among those at the event.
