Vice-chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University (NAU) Awka, Prof. Boniface Egboka has said that though the flood which recently ravaged 35 communities in Seven of Anambra’s 21 council areas is receding; but that the government and people of the state should now be concerned about the post-flood rehabilitation of the victims because it left a lot of negative aftermath behind.

Egboka, a Hydro-Geologist led a team of the institution’s management and academic staff after a tour of some of the flooded communities Friday  to donate some relief materials to the victims through the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) at the Government house, Awka. He said the sequential flooding polluted drinking wells and has created a very high rate of cholera and malaria scourge requiring that a lot of vaccines is needed to prevent an outbreak of disease epidemics.
