The crisis that erupted last week at Wadata district of Wase Local Government Council of Plateau State where over 20 persons were reportedly killed may have escalated to Lamba Wakat district of the council, resulting in the death of another two persons in a fresh attack.
Scores of others were also reportedly injured, and over 200 cows rustled.
A source from the village who confirmed the attack said the Fulani herdsmen struck at the early hours of yesterday, killing two persons and injuring several others, adding that this development has created serious tension in the locality.
Also, the attack, the village head, Alhaji Haruna Mohammed, who confirmed the incident to journalists on the phone, said the residents of Lamba and the surrounding villages have been living under serious tension since the crisis broke out in the area last Thursday.
Appealing to the authorities concerned to deploy security personnel to the area, the village head said “Sometimes at nights, we hear sounds of gun shots all over and this has kept us under serious tension in the locality since the last week incident. We need the help of security personnel to address this ugly situation in our area.”
