There is an ongoing plan to begin an impeachment proceeding against the Kogi State governor, Captain Idris Wada as soon as the State House of Assembly resumes sitting, THISDAY can authoritatively reveal.

An impeccable member of the ruling Peoples' Democratic Party (PDP) in the state who dropped the hint said the plan was being muted by some aggrieved members of the party.

However, the Special Adviser to Wada on Media and Strategy, Mr. Jacob Edi said there was no ground for any impeachment threat on the governor since his boss was doing well and the people of the State were happy with him.

He described the alleged move as mere rumour as there were no grounds to proceed against the governor as impeachment was not carried out in a void but pleaded with those who may be moving under the shadows for nefarious purposes to come out in the open as was expected in a democratic environment.

However, the source which confided in THISDAY about the plot said, "There are plans among top members of the party to impeach the governor and the idea is not sectional; it is being planned by aggrieved PDP members who do not want the disunity in the party to continue".

THISDAY gathered that those behind the ploy held a meeting in a secret location at Abuja, Federal Capital Territory where the modalities for the impeachment was hatched.

Findings also revealed that the group is planning to leverage on the leadership crisis in the house where 13 of the 25 lawmakers are accusing the governor of fanning the ember of discord among the state legislators to actualise the impeachment.
