The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has described Governor Rochas Okorocha-led administration in Imo State as lawless.
It also carpeted the administration for its lack of respect for the constitution, the judiciary and the oath of allegiance.

This came as the state government expressed dismay over the recent takeover of the local government councils by the PDP under the brutal force of the Nigerian Police Force.

In a statement yesterday by its National Vice-Chairman, South-east,   (rtd.), the PDP condemned what it described as Okorocha’s “reckless and unconstitutional decision” in declaring a three-day public holiday for local council workers in Imo State and sending the Heads of Accounts and Treasury on a three-week compulsory leave, actions it said were aimed at preventing the elected chairman and councillors, who were reinstated by the Court of Appeal on July 5, 2012, from functioning in office.

Calling Okorocha’s action condemnable, the statement said the governor’s “provocative gimmicks not only amount to contempt of court, they are a calculated attempt to ridicule the Judiciary and overheat the polity”.

PDP demanded the recall of the holidaying workers to work with the reinstated chairmen, in the spirit of the constitution.
“Governor Okorocha had no genuine intention to obey the ruling of the Court of Appeal which directed that the local government chairman and councillors, whom he arbitrarily sacked on assumption of office, be reinstated, hence he is resorting to undemocratic tactics to circumvent the court’s ruling.

The state government also berated the Attorney General of the Federation, Mr. Mohammed Adoke (SAN), for giving what it described as ‘unsolicited advice’ that led to the forceful reinstatement of the PDP chairmen on a matter that was still pending in the court.
