Oyo state government has approved the promotion of over 300 typists, and has raised their promotion bar from Grade level 09 to Grade Level 12.
Already, the first batch of the affected typists, totaling 160, having commenced a six-month training tagged ‘Stagnation-breaking Programme’ that will enable them qualify for promotion up till Grade Level 12 in the civil services.
A statement issued by the special adviser to the Governor on Media, Dr. Festus Adeydayo, said the second batch would also commence their training after the completion of training by the first batch.
He said that the training was part of the wholesale civil service reform being carried out by the state government, including flushing out those with fake certificates, those who falsified their ages and personal data, those with disciplinary cases and non-existing staff, popularly called ghost workers from the system.
Adedayo said the moves were aimed at repositioning the state civil service for quality service delivery, as well as the actualisation of the restoration, transformation and repositioning agenda of the Ajimobi administration.
According to him, the state government is committing a total sum of N9 million to the training programme at the rate of N30,000 per participant. He added that the typists would be deployed to several ministries and parastatals to work as data processing officers and secretarial assistance after the training.
