Governor Adams Oshiomhole of Edo State

Governor Adams Oshiomhole of Edo State has described the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in the state, General Charles Airhiavbere (rtd), as a person without integrity and one who does not have the moral standing to pick holes with the qualification of any person.
Oshiomhole said this Monday at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, where he along with his Anambra and Delta States counterparts met with President Goodluck Jonathan privately.
According to him, Airhiabvere, is a dishonest politician who wasted his time trying to find fault in his academic credentials.
He also observed that politically the PDP gubernatorial hopeful was not his match because Aivhiavbere could not even deliver the polling booth in his area, talk less of his ward and local government.
Instead, the governor said he wasted the precious time of the court pursuing a mandate he knew was never his.
The governor applauded the judiciary for being upright in its delivery of the judgment in his favour, saying it really negated what his detractors had in stock for him, which was to make him lose his job just as it was done during his days of activism in the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC).
“For a man who went to Auchi Polytechnic to challenge an Oxford product was shocking to me.
He attended NIPSS 21 years after I attended the same institution and I made a B+. So, what is he talking about?”
Also, while addressing a crowd of people who had come to welcome him home from Abuja at the Benin Airport, Oshiomhole urged residents of the state not to be in a hurry but wait patiently for the Election Petitions Tribunal to deliver judgment on the remaining part of the case.
Oshiomhole said many people called him to express their fears over the possible outcome of the Supreme Court judgment but that he told them not to worry.
He disclosed that he was informed that Airhiavbere was already compiling names for appointment into his (Airhiavbere) cabinet.
Oshiomhole said it was laughable for Airhiavbere to say that he (Oshiomhole) did not go to school and that he was a different person from Adams Aliu.
According to the governor, “Some people thought they have acquired so much money meant for military pensioners, to buy justice and the electorate.
“God and the people were not with them. Only the devil was with them and they have been totally buried with the devil in the state.
“Here is a man who went to swore affidavit that I Oshiomhole cannot talk. He said I did not to go school. He misled himself to think that the godfathers can help him,” Oshiomhole said.
Meanwhile, the first civilian governor of Edo State, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, has described the victory of Oshiomhole at the Supreme Court against Airhiavbere, as the end of all the cases against his re-election as the governor of the state.
Oyegun, who stated this Monday while speaking with journalists in Benin City, urged Edo people to join hands with the governor in re-building the state.
He said: “I know that will come all the time. I have a bit of regret that issue was not tried in court, I have a little bit of regret because here is a man who is a member of the highest policy institution in the country, the Nigeria Institute of Policy Strategic Studies (NIPSS).”
“So the argument as to whether he has standard six certificate or not, to me is totally irrelevant.
“The man talks better than most professors, he reasons more than most strategists and the constitution does not in any case say you must have a school certificate, the implication is school certificate or its equivalent and there are several equivalents, so, it is a pity really that the issue was not tried, but it is over and we thank God for that.
“So, the whole thing is just nonsensical and as far as I am concerned, the case is over. Let us get on with the building of our state.”
