Ondo State Government Thursday  said it was issuing Homan Construction Limited, the contractor handling the Fiwasaye-Oba Ile-Airport Road in the outskirt of Akure, three weeks to show seriousness about the project or get  the contract terminated.

The state government had already terminated the dualisation project of the Itanla Junction-Ademulegun Road in Ondo Town that was awarded to the same company, and given to another construction company.

The state Commissioner for Works, Mr. Gboye Adegbenro, who disclosed this during an inspection tour of some road projects in Ondo Town, said the N3.6 billion Arakale dualisation road project and some township roads would be ready for inauguration in February 2013.

Adegbenro said the state government through the Ministry of Justice had written a final letter to Homan Construction Ltd on the plan of the state government to terminate the contract by the end of November, should the company fail to perform.

According to him, the first phase of the Ondo township road dualisation, which passes through Yaba in the heart of the town, had reached advanced stage and would be completed by February 2013.

He also said another township road awarded about four months ago in Akinjagunla, Ondo town would be ready for inauguration also next February.
The commissioner stated that the Arakale road dualisation, which cost about N3.6 billion out of which N1.5 billion was paid as compensation, had been executed to advance level and would also completed to time.

He said the road has four major car parks and would be with full complement of modern road, saying government would take advantage of the five months of the dry season to execute many road projects across the state.

Adegbenro added that government had spread its major dualisation projects across the three senatorial districts with work ongoing in Owo, Akure, Ondo and Igbokoda.

The commissioner, however, explained that the delay on the execution of the Obaile-Airport road was due to the management crisis in the construction company handling the project.
