Super Eagles midfielder, Ogenyi Onazi
Super Eagles midfielder, Ogenyi Onazi started his first game for Italian club, SS Lazio following the sacking of former coach, Vladimir Petkovic.
Petkovic was officially sacked as Lazio head coach on January 4 with Eddy Reja taking his place.
Lazio have won two Serie A titles, in 1974 and 2000, as well as six Italian Cups and the European Cup Winners' Cup and Onazi had been a regular at the club until Petkovic was eased out.
The 21-year-old started his first match for Lazio since Reja took the reins on Tuesday night as the Biancocelesti beat AC Parma 2-1 in the round of 16 at Stadio Olimpico.
Onazi played all 90 minutes and did not do too much wrong in the game.
Another Eagles defender, Joel Obi, has endured a complicated season at AC Parma following his summer switch from Internazionale.
The 22-year-old has spent more time on the treatment table than on the pitch in the last 18 months and was not listed in the club’s loss to Lazio at the Stadio Olimpico.
Obi has not started a single game for Parma this season with his four appearances in Serie A all coming from the bench.
He has just 67 minutes of action under his belt this season and will be praying circumstances turn around for the better as he looks to force his way into Nigeria’s 2014 World Cup squad.
Ramon Azeez will play no further part in the 2013/14 Copa del Rey after Almería bowed out of the competition following a 0-2 loss to Racing Santander on Tuesday night.
Almeria would have progressed to the next round with a victory of any margin as the club had recorded a 1-1 draw against Racing in their first leg of the round of 16 tie.
Azeez who was an unused substitute in the game is having a happier time in La Liga with one goal in 14 league appearances for the Andalusian club this season.
