Lanre Curtis Oluborode

Lanre Curtis Oluborode is an actor and a model. He is presently one of the characters in the popular soap opera, Tinsel. He had his big break as one of the models for MTN and became a popular face after featuring in Style Plus musical video Runway. He told Azuka Ogujiuba about growing up in Germany and finally finding his feet in Nigeria after his relocation back home

Apart from your modeling and acting career what else do you do?
I run an event company.

You are also a model. Do you still model?
No, not really. Stop doing that some years ago.

And what are your major modeling jobs so far?
TVC’s for MTN, IBTC (now Stanbic IBTC), Ginsomin, UBA, Nigerian Breweries and other major blue chip companies(these also include billboards and other outdoor advertisement).

Tell us about your journey in the most popular soap currently in West Africa?
For me, it began right from the first season, the very first time I got the opportunity to watch an episode, I knew I wanted to be a part of it. It wasn’t easy to get there. My wish of becoming a cast came through after attending three auditions over a period of about three years, the last one being about two years ago. I suddenly got a call a few months ago to assume my character.

Which actor in the world would you love to play along side in a movie?
A lot of them, actually. But if I would have to pick, I guess I would pick Denzel Washington.

What movie brought you so close to tears?
Wow.... Hmmmmm, I would say Hotel Rwanda

Which actor in the world has inspired your acting career?
Al Pacino

What is your biggest fear in life?
Not archiving a goal that has been mapped out for so long.

Describe the last time you remember feeling really happy?
The last time I was really, really happy was when I got the news that my sister had delivered her twins, boys. The happiness I felt at that point was and remains priceless....

What is your biggest regret?
Don’t dwell on such.

What would you want to change about yourself or your life?
Wow.... That’s a tough one.. I love everything about myself..... Ok, maybe reduce my adventurous nature, because I know it gets my loved ones worried sometimes.

What is your most memorable fashion moments?
Must have been the first day that I wore native to an event...

Which celebrity, dead or alive, would you like to prepare table in his or her party?
Sydney Poitier. I have got so much respect for him.

Who in the world will you like to dine and wine with?
Bill Gates

Oh, that definitely would be Halle Berry!

Which celebrity in the world do you think has a near complete perfect lifestyle?
We have a few of them, but Will Smith would probably be the first person that would come to mind.

For me, it’s Shakira all the way

What outfit can you not be caught dead in?

I don’t think so.

Who is Lanre Curtis?
A simple, adventurous and focused man. A private person, but could be outgoing as well. Takes his work very seriously. A good listener. Ready to help when he can, but a no-nonsense fellow.

How old are you?
I am in my mid-thirties.

Tell us about your background?
Born and raised in Germany, came to Nigeria for the first time as a teenager. First born in a family of two. Raised by a single, strong and beautiful mother that I cherish more than anything in this world. Went to the university of Port Harcourt where I read Geology.

If you are to go on an island for an exotic weekend, what are the 5 things you will take along?
A camera, my blackberry, ipad, pepper, in case there is no spicy food on that island because I love pepper, and my earphones.

What is the most memorable valentine gift you have ever received from a woman?
A Patek Phillipe wristwatch which is so hard to find.

Are you in any relationship now or when are you planning to walk down the aisle?
Yes, I am in a relationship... Walking down the aisle? Not sure yet.
What does the word love mean to you?
The word love? It’s a word that should only be uttered when you mean it. Also, it’s not just about saying it, it is more about acting it. It indicates an incomparable bond shared with someone.

What is your most expensive fashion accessory?
My wristwatches, I guess....

What is your fashion fetish?

What do you crave about all the time?
Peace and a calm environment.

Which is the most favorite part of your body?
My shoulders.

Apart from your job, what else do you like to indulge in?
Motorcycling, jet-skiing, cooking

Ensuring that average or poor citizens are entitled to social welfare in order to add value to their lives.

As much as I am not a fan, I have to say Kim Kardashian.
