Lady golfers
The 2012 edition of the annual LGAN amateur Ladies Open Golf Championship came to a thrilling end at the Blue Elephant Cement Golf Club, Ewekoro with former captain of Ikeja Golf Club, Mrs. Iyabo Ogunnaike emerging winner of the competition.
To come tops in the keenly contested two-day event, the former lady captain netted a score of 157, to top the field of over 90-ladies golfers and guest who took part in the competition.
For her effort, Ogunnaike earn, a giant trophy and a return ticket to Johannesburg from South Africa Airways.
But while Ogunnaike ruled in the net category for women, Miss Alaba Adetunji also shown like star having emerged the best in the gross category of the event.
To set the pace in the women event, Adetunji grossed a score of 176, winning for herself a return ticket to South Africa courtesy of South Africa Airways as well.
Organised by Vice President, LGAN Western Zone, Remi Johnson who is also the lady captain at Blue Elephant Cement club, Ewekoro, the event also has Ajala Shade from Ogbomosho, Bolarinwa Dunni from Kadarico, in Niger State and Sule M.J from Dolphin in Lagos winning trophies.
Other winners in the competition are Dr. Veronica Chaka, Bella Samuel, Omotayo Ahmed and Evelyn Oboh among others.
Speaking at the event closing ceremony, Mrs Johnson thanked all those who made the competition a success.
