Team Nigeria's free fall at the London Olympic Games continued Wednesday as the country's hope in the women's 63kg wrestling free style, Blessing Oborodudu, lost 3-0 to Monika Miichalik of Poland.
She is the first of the four Nigerian wrestlers who made it to the London 2012 that crashed out.
So much was expected from her after she drew bye into the quarter final without contest. Victory for her would have been Nigeria's first medal here in London. The polish girl who claimed the easy victory was sacked by the same 3-0 margin by Ruixue Jing of China. Jinx was fighting for the gold as at press time last night.
Thursday at the same venue, the other Nigerian female qualifier in the 72kg freestyle, Amarachi Favour Obiajunwa will be on the mat to see if she can salvage anything for the country.
The 22 year-old Nigerian wrestler is paired against Jiao Wang of China.
Head Coach of the Nigerian wrestling team, Dr Daniel Igali had earlier told THISDAY that he was not particularly expecting much from the four wrestlers he brought here but working towards making impact at the next edition of the Games to be hosted by Brazil in 2016.
Sinivie Boltic and Dick Adebo, the two male Nigerian wrestlers here are yet to step out for their bouts.
