The Governor of Anambra State, Mr. Peter Obi has said that the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) is determined to retain the identity and core values bequeathed to it by its founding fathers and will not join any merger arrangement.

Obi's  position came shortly after a meeting of the national caucus of the party at the weekend  which approved the appointment of Mr. Maxi Okwu and Alhaji Sanni Shinkafi to serve as Acting National Chairman and Acting National Secretary of the party respectively.

Speaking to reporters in Abuja, Obi denied any controversy over the decision of the party not to join the on-going merger by some opposition parties in the country, saying at no time was the issue in contention among the stakeholders.
