On May 26, Lagos and the entertainment sector will be agog as they play host to one of its own at this month’s edition of the O’jez Entertainment Award. The event is billed to hold at the celebrity restaurant, O’jez, inside the National Stadium complex, Surulere-Lagos beginning from 7pm.

Peter Igho was director of programmes, member of the management board and member of the board at the Nigerian Television Authority, NTA, for many years until he retired from the broadcast industry. He is now blazing the trail at the National Lottery Regulatory Commission where he is the director general.

Chief Host of the May 26 event and Nollywood star, Zach Orji in a statement signed by O’jez media Company, Media Image Managers, MIM, described Igho as a “perfect gentleman”. He said the broadcaster’s years at NTA left an indelible mark in the nation’s entertainment industry, “and no producer or actor worth his salt will ever forget the name Peter Igho. Till date, his name rings a bell in the nation’s entertainment sector for his contributions and assistance to practitioners.

“He was like a father to all practitioners. Similar thing he is doing at the National Lottery Regulatory Commission and that is why the prestigious O’jez Entertainment Award, the only monthly award series that has been on for more than a decade now, decided to honour this very rare Nigerian. Igho deserves this honour and many more,” Orji said.

The night would be filled with lots of fun as the O’jez Band has been prepped to perform special tunes for the award recipient. “O’jez Band has started serious rehearsals since they got the news that Igho is going to be the recipient of this month’s O’jez Entertainment Award,” Chief Joseph Odobeatu, chief executive officer, O’jez Entertainment Limited, said in statement.

He said all the comedians on the bill are going to deliver their best jokes ever on that day. “Wave making Elder O, Elenu and MC Shakara will be on fire, literally, on May 26. Veteran highlife musician, Pa Fatai Rolling Dollars would deliver evergreen highlife tunes with his hit song ,Won kere si Number. I am more than convinced the night would be a memorable one,” Odobeatu said.
