Gov Murtala Nyako

The immediate past Governor of Adamawa State, and the PDP candidate, in February 4th Governorship elections, Admiral Murtala Nyako has been declared the winner in the last Saturday elections, by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Declaring Nyako, after the collation of the results, the returning officer, Professor Mohhammed Hamisu Mohammed, Vice chancellor of the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi, said that Nyako of PDP scored 302,953 votes to beat Engineer Markus Gundiri of the ACN, to a second place with 241,023.
Gen. Mohahamed Buba Marwa of the CPC scored 107,546, to place third, while DR Zainabu Kwonchi came fourth with 2,846 votes.
The ANPP candidate Usman Belel, who pulled out of the election about three days to the election still, however scored 3,885 votes.
Prof. Mohammed said Nyako won a total of 44.22 % of the total votes cast, scoring above the mandatory 25% in the 21 local government councils of the state.
The ACN scored 35.1%, scoring 25% in seven local government councils. Marwa scored 15% of the vote, and scored 25 % in three local government council areas.
Speaking immediately after the declaration of the results, the PDP state chairman, Alhaji Umaru Kugama thanked the people of the state for reposing their confidence in the PDP and Gov. Nyako’s administration by electing him for another tenure.
