The Adamawa State Governor, Murtala Nyako Friday  stormed the national secretariat of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) where he openly apologized to the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party over the crisis rocking the state.

But his apology did stop the National Chairman of the party, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur writing to inform the Director General of the State Security Services (SSS), the Commissioner of Police in Adamawa State and the Adamawa State Independent Electoral Commission of the changes in the affairs of the party in the state.

This is as the dissolved State Executives headed by Alhaji Umaru Mijinyawa Kugama, headed to the Federal High Court, Yola division, challenging the powers of the national working committee  of the party , NWC, in dissolving them.

They are praying the court to quash their dissolution , as according to them, they have not committed any offence under the constitution of the party , to warrant their sacking, an action, they  stressed amounted to high handedness.

However, Tukur in a letter dated October 17 2012 made available to THISDAY informed the relevant security agencies of the changes stating, “Pursuant to section 29 (2) (b) and section (e) of the Constitution of the People Democratic Party (PDP) 2012 (as amended), the Party has dissolved the PDP State Executive Committee of Adamawa State headed by Alhaji. Mijinyawa Kugama.

“In its place, the party has approved a Caretaker Committee comprising the following to run the Party until another Executive Committee is elected”, notifying that the committee is led by Ambassador Umar Damagun.

Tukur also said in the letter, “With the foregoing development, the Caretaker Committee is to take over the affairs of the party in the State until a new State Executive is elected. You are kindly requested to extend all protection and courtesies to the caretaker committee and I want to thank you very much for your cooperation”.
