Heartland star, Ikechukwu Ibenegbu has declared that the 4-0 victory over Gombe United on Matchday 5 of the NPFL is a confirmation the team's quality.

Fans of the Owerri side left the Dan Anyiam Stadium dejected after the team lost at home to newly promoted Nembe City on Matchday 1.

However, the team has since bounced back to record decent results against Warri Wolves and Kaduna United.

Heartland has scored eight goals in consecutive home matches.

“The loss to Nembe City on the opening day was an embarrassment to the entire squad. We had to bounce back to prove our quality.

“The defeat at home served as a tonic to change everything,” the Nigerian international said to

Ibenegbu added that the team’s recent results will boost confidence ahead of their CAF Confederation Cup second leg clash against Gabonese side, US Bitam.

“The return leg is a different match and we’re in the right mood to face US Bitam again,” he said.

Goals from Isah Akoh, Happy Okuoka and Ibenegbu earned Heartland maximum points to put the fans in the right mood on Easter Sunday’s top flight action.
