North-east Summit to FG: Intensify Dialogue with Boko Haram

Federal Government has been urged to Intensify efforts at dialoguing with Boko Haram insurgents in order to have a lasting peace that will bring about socio economic growth and development in North East region.

The call was made in a communiqué issued at the end of two day North Eastern Alliance for Transformation summit held at Yankari Game Reserve, Bauchi, Friday.

The Summit was attended by Governor of Borno, Bauchi, Gombe, Acting Governor of Taraba, Deputy Governor of Yobe and representative of Adamawa Governor among other dignitaries.

Parts of the communiqué read, "the meeting noted with appreciation, the role being played by the Federal Government on the security challenges facing the sub-region and urged that efforts should be intensified to dialogue with the Boko Haram insurgents so that a lasting solution is found for socio-economic growth and development in the entire sub-region”.

It also called on the governor from the zone to pool their resources to meet the challenges of insecurity, Heath, Agriculture, Tourism and Culture.

"Governors of the zone should set out targets on short medium and long term bases to achieve the economic development goals of the zone.

The Governors of the zone should also employ the services of professionals to prepare strategic plan for the economic development of the sub-region. Apart from the government of the zone, other stakeholders should be encouraged to take part in tackling the socio-economic problems of the zone.
