Nigerian Striker Signs for Belgium Top Side

Nigerian-born Belgium forward, Marvin Ogunjimi has joined Belgium's Beerschot AC from Real Mallorca on a six month loan deal after undergoing medicals on Friday at the club.

A statement on the club’s website revealed that Ogunjimi will therefore spend the next six months in Belgium after the club reached an agreement with Real Mallorca on Friday where he is under contract until 2015, reports

The 25-year-old joined Standard Liege on a season-long loan last summer but due to his lack of first team opportunities in Spain but despite the transition, he was never guaranteed match time by Coach Mircea Rednic hence, the need to look for a new team.

Purchase option

Beerschot however have an option to buy the striker. He is the eighth gain for Beerschot during this winter mercato.

Ogunjimi started his career at KRC Genk where he remained until the winter of 2011/2012 season before moving on a transfer to Real Mallorca.

International career

Marvin Ogunjimi (born 12 October 1987 in Mechelen) is a Belgian football striker of Nigerian descent.  He made his international debut for Belgium against Kazakhstan in Astana, coming on at half-time and scoring twice in a 2–0 victory. He played seven matches, in which he scored four times to come.

Marvin Ogunjimi will link up with compatriot Nwanganga and youth team, Funso Ojo at Beerschot who are placed 14th in the championship.
