One of the continent’s biggest talent hunt show, Nigeria’s Got Talent presented viewers across the continent with yet another thrilling weekend, as its semi-final round continued.

The episode kicked off with Vodavillz, a dance group from Enugu - a brilliant way to start the show according to the judges. Romeo Asuquo from Calabar took over with his spectacular act of juggling and cycling; maintaining balance as he juggled on a stool and also rode a monocycle. “Amazing,” said actress and judge, Kate Henshaw.

Adding glamour to the night was Azuka Ekazue who sang an old time classic from Boys II Men, ’End of The Road’, wowing the audience, though the judges wondered about his voice and originality. The Pebbles ballet dance group however held both audience and judges in awe with a ballet performance to Tuface Idibia’s latest hit’ Omo T’osan’.

The crowd pleasers included Toke Salami, an 11 year old who performed gospel act Lara George’s classic, ’Ijoba Orun’, Gabriel Ayankoko with his spell-binding glass eating and fire dancing act. Something went wrong with the flames, but he delivered to applause; as did Deborah Obatem who performed Alicia Keys’ ‘A woman’s worth’ and whose voice was described as “excellent”.

The show wrapped with performances from The Expendables, the dance group from Port Harcourt and Blessing Christopher; who impressed the audience with her drums. All through the show, the judges’ responses to contestants emphasized poise, depth, volume and other critical feedback to improve their craft.

Hosted by Andre Blaze, the judges for the season are radio host Dan Foster, actor Kate Henshaw and entertainment entrepreneur, Yibo Koko.

The Airtel-sponsored first season of Nigeria’s Got Talent began to air on 16 September and will run until December 2012.
The Got Talent franchise worldwide, which is in its sixth year, has produced many notable performers in the last couple of years.
