Team Nigeria will attempt one last attempt at trying to save some face when they run in the final of the women's 4x400m Saturday evening.

After a catologue of woeful performances by the 55-man strong athletics team to the London Olympics, just four girls now have the chance of redeeming some pride for the country.

The quartet of Omolara Omotosho, Idara Otu, Bukola Abogunloko and Regina George posted a season best of 3 minutes 26 seconds to place fourth in the semi finals of the race, to qualify as one of the fastest losers.

Saturday evening they will line up in Lane 3, hoping to get the better of teams like Jamaica, whose quartet of Christine day, Shereefa Lloyd, Shericka Williams and Rosemarie Whyte won their heat  in a season best of 3 minutes 25 seconds.
; the United States, who powered home with an even faster time of 3.22.09m, and European powerhouse, Russia, which clocked 3.23.11m.

These teams, along with France, Czech Republic and Team GB, are the finalists Nigeria is going up against.

Even though the task appears daunting, Nigerians will be praying for a miracle of sorts to happen to enable the self acclaimed 'Giant of Africa' redeem some pride with a medal of any colour.

The race takes place on Saturday at the London Olympic Stadium at 8.25pm.
