Organisers of the Nigeria Bankers Games (NBG) have lined up all-star teams from the Nigeria Insurance Games (NIG) and the Nigeria Telecommunications Games (NTG) for the curtain raiser on Sunday’s opening ceremony of the 2012 Nigeria Bankers Games at the University of Lagos Sports Complex.

The Head of Events Management at MediaVision Limited, Maryann Emereonye, announced the star-studded squad from the two industry games Monday in Lagos and said the novelty match was introduced to add glamour and excitement to the opening day ceremony.

According Emereonye: “MediaVision will continue to seek innovations that will raise the entertainment value of the Games we organize for corporate Nigeria and also expand the platform for wider spectrum of interaction across the industries”.

She further posited that the conglomeration of players from all sectors of corporate Nigeria in an atmosphere of sports and healthy competition will enhance cross-industry networking for individual and corporate performance.

“We are building a family of sportsmen and women across corporate Nigeria and this will ultimately facilitate sector efficiency as people network and become acquainted”, remarked the Events Manager.

Tosin Agbetusi of LM Ericsson has been named Team Manager for the NTG team and the squad includes from ETISALAT, goalkeeper Chima Nnorom and Andrew Enebeli while Joseph Akpat and Uche Iheukwumere from MTN.

The NIG team will be managed by Joel Akamagwuna of Leadway Assurance and will have players like Mamulalo Adeyemi of Sovereign Trust Insurance in goal, Godwin Akioyameh of NEM, Jamiu Yusuf of Cornerstone and Adegbenro Adegboyega of Union Assurance.

The novelty match will be preceded by a ceremonial march past by the twelve participating teams  and the induction of the newly elected members of the Corporate Hall of Fame will come immediately after the curtain raiser. Seven nominees for the Corporate Hall of Fame will know which of them will make the shortlist for three on that day.

Skye Bank and Stanbic IBTC will play the first competitive match of the 2012 NBG at 2.pm while Fidelity Bank meets Sterling Bank in the second match of the day at 3.30pm.
