The Nigeria Football Federation has pledged total support to the ambition of the U-17 National Team, Golden Eaglets, to conquer the continent at next year’s African U-17 Championship in Morocco.

Head Coach Manu Garba (MFR) was assistant to the late Yemi Tella when the last Nigerian squad at the continental competition (Togo 2007) lifted the trophy, and following a blistering campaign by his boys in the qualifying race, the former international midfielder is already looking forward to laying his hands on the Cup in North Africa.

Speaking in Abuja, NFF President Aminu Maigari said: “The NFF is delighted with the perfect qualifying campaign that these young lads have conducted. It is a long time we saw a Nigerian team completely dominate its qualifying series with so much gusto.

“On our side at the NFF, we are ready to give the team every support towards bringing glory to our country at the finals in Morocco next year. What I can say is that the team will get adequate preparation that will enable it to conquer Africa,” Maigari said.

On arrival in Lagos on Tuesday evening, the delegation connected Uyo, capital of Akwa Ibom State, where a commemorative match to celebrate Governor Godswill Akpabio’s 50th birthday anniversary against Akwa Ibom XI awaits on Sunday.

After the match, the Eaglets will break camp to resume sometime in February next year.
