NFF, NPL Parley over League Resumption

The unresolved matters that been responsible for the known resumption of the new football season in the country may be put to rest today following the decision of the Nigeria Football Federation to have a meeting with the NPL board in Abuja Thursday.

In a Communique issued at the end of the of the Executive Committee of the NFF at the Glass House in Abuja yesterday, the leadership of the NPL was invited to the meeting to deliberate on all outstanding issues around the League.

The outcome of the meeting will also decide when to hold the NPL Congress and the commencement of the 2012/2013 League Season within the shortest possible time.

The Communique signed by spokesman of the NFF board, Chief Emeka Inyama, also confirmed the setting up of an ad-hoc committee to organise fund-raising dinners for the sole purpose of the Super Eagles’ participation at the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations finals to be hosted by South Africa.

“Funds raised at these dinners will complement the expected grant from the Federal Government for the prosecution of the Super Eagles’ campaign. 1st Vice President, Chief Mike Umeh is chairman of the committee,” stressed the statement Wednesday night.

Also, the Executive Committee of the NFF approved that the 2012 Annual General Assembly of Nigeria football take place in Port Harcourt, Rivers State on Thursday, 13th December 2012.

“Arrival of Congress members is set for Wednesday, 12th December while departure is on Friday, 14th December,” it noted.

It also approved the re-constitution of NFF standing committees two years after their inauguration.
