The National  Directorate  of  Employment (NDE) is set to  graduate 2,990  unemployed  youths from the  Rural  Agricultural  Development  Training  Scheme (RADTS) by the end of this month.

The youth who are mostly school leavers have been undergoing series of training in the last four months at NDE's established Agricultural Skills Training Centres nationwide.

A statement issued by NDE's Assistant Director (Information/Public Relations) Mr. Edmund Onwuliri, said the NDE employs the  integrated  farming  demonstration  and  training  approach  in  capacity  building  for  community  empowerment  and  rural  development.

He added that having  identified the  potentials  in  the sector  for  employment, wealth creation  and  the  need  to  stem  rural-urban  drift, the  trainees have been exposed to  various  agricultural  practices  such  as arable  crop  production, livestock  production,  food  processing/preservation  and agro services.

The NDE  had also complemented  the RADTS  training  with Basic  Business  Training  thereby exposing  the  trainees  to  the  rudiments  of  business  plan  preparation. Each  trainee  is  expected  to  submit  a  bankable  business  proposal to enable the NDE link  them up with credit granting institutions for adequate funding.
